Rural Business & Farm Succession Mediation

Disputes in rural businesses often affect both personal and commercial relationships. When communication breaks down, families, partnerships and the future of the business itself often suffer.

Mediating rural business disputes, including farm succession, I help families and business partners navigate difficult decisions and find workable
paths ahead.

Quality advice and preparation is crucial. I work closely with rural professionals and trusted advisors for all parties.

Grounded Understanding of Farming Life

Born and bred on a sheep and beef farm on the east coast, I maintain close ties to the rural sector across New Zealand, and have enormous respect for the rural community, agribusiness sector and farming way of life.

My background includes 15 years of sheep and beef farm management in the Wairarapa, including successfully transitioning family ownership to an equity partnership and recognition as a Beef + Lamb NZ Innovation Farmer.

This gives me a real-world perspective of the pressures that often sit behind farm succession discussions. I understand that these conversations are rarely just about business – they are complex, often impacting core values including family harmony, relationships, fairness, viability, legacy and the future of the farm.

What Mediation Aims to Create

My goal in mediation is to help people reach a genuine resolution aligned with their values.

That means finding practical solutions that work in the real world, and agreements people understand and are prepared to stand behind, while preserving important relationships where possible.
